We are proud to announce that Firehead’s founder and managing director, CJ Walker, has been elected president of TCEurope, Europe’s umbrella organisation for technical communication.

CJ Walker was elected at the recent TCEurope Colloquium, held in Porto, in Portugal on 15 April 2016. She will begin her two-year role immediately taking over from the outgoing president, Jean-Paul Bardez. She currently represents the ISTC (Institute for Scientific and Technical Communication), where she was elected to their board as their international representative this year.

She said: “I am honoured to be elected the president of TCEurope. It’s a fantastic organisation that brings together tech comm societies from across Europe into one big umbrella society, from CRT in France to the ISTC in the UK, from as far south as APCOMTEC in Portugal right up to Scandinavia with FTI (Sweden) and STVY (Finland).

“Most people know me as a Cajun living in Europe, and as someone who loves to communicate with and connect people. I’m looking forward to working with TCEurope in 2016-18 to further knowledge and awareness of technical communication as a profession and to bring unified strength to it by working together across Europe.

“I’ve had 20 years working in tech comm as an author and editor, and those roles evolved into setting up a specialist recruitment agency in 2007 for digital and technical communication professionals across Europe – my other job! In that time I’ve also been president of the STC Transalpine chapter, a board member of the French chapter, and helped organise both the Technical Communication UK conference and the first Content Strategy Forum in Paris. I’m very much looking forward to bringing my broad experience to TCEurope.

“If you need to get in touch with me, you can email me via Firehead or contact me through the TCEurope team at president@tceurope.org. I’m also out there on Twitter @FireheadLtd and on LinkedIn, so please do connect there, too.”
