Employers Must Offer Continual Training and Career Development Programmes to Counter Employee Disengagement
We learned a lot from a recent Metrix Global Study poll on executive engagement. (see link here)
With an ever-increasing number of Gen Zs filling digital communications roles, and with the global marketplace opening through remote and hybrid working opportunities, businesses will need to invest in ongoing training and upskilling courses if this group is to represent them in the future.
‘Many companies employ coaching programmes to cope with a crisis of disengagement, particularly when it comes to employees from generation Z.’

Research we found through Gallup (link here) spotlighted a clear lack of engagement by Gen Zs, who need to work alongside more experienced peers, mentors, and coaches to dispense with their ambivalence and to help them find purpose in their roles.
To counter this ‘crisis of disengagement’, many employers are turning to workplace coaching and outsourced training modules to satisfy their curiosity and mollify their feeling of ‘entitlement’.

The Metrix Global Study revealed that ongoing training modules and workplace coaching have a 788% ROI on investment in terms of employee productivity and staff retention, resulting in a 60% increase in engagement in companies with a strong coaching and ongoing training culture, with improved metrics across the board:
- 70% increase in individual performance
- 50% uplift in team performance
- 48% rise in organizational performance
The takewaway: While rapid technological change is proving a challenge, thankfully, technology is also making learning and accessing upskilling courses more accessible. It’s democratising a process that was previously confined to high-level executives and spotlighted staff, at the expense of support teams, contractors and freelancers.
Today, training is digital, so everyone can access top-quality trainers and courses on demand from anywhere.
